<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To locate an occupant leg protector on an upper part or close to a steering column. <P>SOLUTION: An occupant leg protector 40 comprises a container-shaped case 41 having an opening in a front surface thereof (a surface on an occupant side), an airbag 42 folded and accommodated in the case 41, and a gas generator 43 to inflate the airbag 42, and an edge part of a gas inlet of the gas generator 43 and the airbag 42 is fixed to the case 41 by a fitting member 44. A recess 50 extending in the longitudinal direction of a car is formed in a back side of the case 41. The recess 50 has the width equal to or larger than the diameter of a steering column 30. The occupant leg protector 40 can be located upwardly or closer to the steering column 30 by the depth of the recess 50 compared with a conventional one. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
