A mobile article carrier (14) for transporting articles, the carrier being supported by at least a pair of rotatably mounted wheels (16), each wheel including an elastomeric synthetic or natural rubber shell filled (20) with a compressible material. In one embodiment, the wheels are filled with air at one atmosphere or air under pressure. The article carrier (14) is an article of luggage, computer case, or the like, which may be directly or indirectly supported by at least one axle (18) which is, in turn, supported by the wheels.
