An adjustable support beam for the shuttering for concrete floors has a two part telescopic design. An outer beam (2) has two parallel plates (5, 6) joined by bracing plates (6) across the bottom edges and spaced to grip a sliding inner beam (3). The inner beam has an inverted Y-profile (11) to press under the shuttering while the bottom of the outer beam has inner chamfers (9) to slide over the widened profiles of the inner beam, and with a common support plane under the shuttering. The bottom edge of the inner beam has a dovetail slot to lock the two beams together via a fastener fitted through a bracing plate.
