The method involves selecting a second (II) and third (III) group of further fuel nozzle openings in a central fuel nozzle arrangement (4) and applying fuel to them independently of each other in such a way that the second group of openings forms a premixing stage and the third group of openings forms a diffusion stage of the premix burner. AN Independent claim is also included for a device for implementing the inventive method.
