PURPOSE: A device and a method for playing digital contents using a barcode are provided to commonly use the digital contents on the use environments of diverse digital contents without a standardization work for an index code, an index list, or a sale list, and to search/play the digital fast and conveniently. CONSTITUTION: A barcode reader(110) reads the barcode(103) from the index list(101) using the barcode as the index code by placing aside a play list(102) such as a title or the position information of the digital on a printing panel. An operation signal input device(120) includes many buttons for controlling operation. A control signal input part(130) analyzes/converts/applies a barcode read signal and the operation signal to a controller(140). A storage(150) or a network storage(151) stores a data file of the digital contents and the index file of the barcode index codes. The controller analyzes/decodes the data stored in the storage or the network storage, extracts the digital contents data file of the barcode read signal by searching the index code or the index file, and controls each part in order to perform the operation corresponding to the operation signal.
