<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfactorily detect types of various cards via a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: Inlet sensors 10, 20 and 30 for detecting the type of an inserted card are arranged in appropriate positions upstream of a reading/writing position along the card insertion direction.
