PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide steel wire which has excellent wire drawability, initial adhesive properties and durable adhesive properties, to provide steel cord for reinforcing a rubber article obtained by using the steel wire, and to provide a rubber product. SOLUTION: In the steel wire whose surface is coated with blast plating, provided that the contents of Cu, Zn and O in the plated outermost surface measured by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy are respectively defined as A(Cu), A(Zn) and A(O), the ratio of oxygen A in the blast-plated surface calculated by the following formula is controlled to 0.60 to 0.75: A=A(O)/äA(Cu)+A(Zn)+A(O)}.
