PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a micro liquid drop of ink, in particular a micro liquid drop of high viscosity ink, stably. SOLUTION: The inkjet apparatus forming an ink liquid drop by applying an electric field to charged ink in order to deform a meniscus into a cobwebbing shape and then cutting the forward end part of the meniscus comprises a first electrode generating a first electric field for deforming the meniscus of charged ink around the ink, and a second electrode generating a second electric field for forming an ink liquid drop by cutting the forward end part of the meniscus, and can generate a force for cutting a liquid drop of ink from the meniscus in the charged ink. Since a force for cutting the ink locally can be generated at a desired position of the ink, a micro liquid drop of ink can be formed regardless of the viscosity of ink. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
