PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cultivating vegetables rich in a phenolic component having the function of removing active oxygen. SOLUTION: The method for cultivating the vegetables comprises growing the vegetables by foliarly applying an active ingredient-containing treatment liquid to the vegetables under growth, wherein the treatment liquid consists of a strongly alkaline water produced by a diaphragmed electrolysis of a dilute aqueous inorganic salt solution. By this method, the content of the phenolic component in the thus cultivated and harvested vegetables is increased. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
