The round lid (27) carries a membrane (18) with a rod (20) connected to a valve (21) which may close a central pipe supplying water to fill the bath. The lid has a handgrip (32) round its outside to enable it to be turned to vary the proportions of mixed hot and cold water. There is a drain which allows overflow water on the horizontal cutout portion of the rim of the bath to flow down to a drainage pipe (74).
