The spinnaker boom is made in upper (1) and lower parts with the sheet attached to the outer ends which are hinged together. The upper and lower inner ends have eyes (4) which are connected to the mast by closed shackles (6). Each shackle has its open side closed by a safety bar. The opening of the upper shackle faces upward and the opening of the lower shackle faces downward. The upper and lower parts of the boom are pulled toward each other by elastic cords (12) passing through holes near the inner ends.
