DISTRIBUTED MONITORING METHOD AND APPARATUS, AND DISTRIBUTED SLOPE TEMPERATURE DEPENDENCY COMPENSATING METHOD AND APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce deterioration of transmission characteristics caused by an effect of temperature fluctuation of distributed slopes in a wavelength division multiplex (WDM) optical transmission system.

SOLUTION: In order to know an effect quantity of temperature dependency of the distributed slopes, in the WDM optical transmission system, a distributed fluctuation quantity is monitored on two or more wavelength channels. Besides, based upon the monitored distributed fluctuation quantity, wavelength dependency in the temperature dependency of the distribution is compensated by imparting the suitable distribution individually to channels or simultaneously to all bands by a variable distribution equalizer.
