<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capping structure which can prevent a failure in sealing from occurring by appropriately specifying shapes of an engaging projection provided on the inner periphery at the lower end of an outer tube of a cap body and an engaging ring provided on the outer periphery at the upper end of a container mouth and their positional relation. <P>SOLUTION: The capping structure is for mounting the cap body on the container mouth 2 by fitting the container mouth between an inner tube and an outer tube hanging downward from a short top plate on the outer periphery of the cap body and causing the engaging projection 32 protruding on the inner periphery at the lower end of the outer tube to come beyond the engaging ring 33 protruding on the outer periphery at the upper end of the container mouth. A lower slope 34 of the engaging projection 32 and an upper slope 35 of the engaging ring 33 are formed in the substantially same inclination where the outer peripheral side descends with respect to the horizontal plane in a range of 24 to 27 degrees.
