<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device for vehicle capable of correctly controlling light distribution (light distribution of a reflector) of which, light distribution design (light distribution design of a reflector)is easy, and preventing glare. <P>SOLUTION: The light from a sub-discharging arc S and a main discharging arc M are emitted outward through pinch seal parts 80, 81 by a means 82 not transmitting light, namely, the light incident to a reflection surface 91 of a reflector 90 can be prevented. As the light from the sub-discharging arc S and the main discharging arc M hit an electrode and diffused ( diffusion reflection) by diffusion means 22, 32, 42, the influence on the light distribution of the reflector 90 is small.
