<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely and quickly retrieve necessary data even when a data file group is divided and preserved in a plurality of computers. <P>SOLUTION: Work case description items to describe "who, when, why, what, and how" are registered for classifying data contents. When a data file is prepared by a data file monitor program, the data file name and preservation place are registered in a data file group management list so as to be associated with the registered work case description items.
