PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for assaying HbA1c (hemoglobin A1c) and a reagent for the same. SOLUTION: A protease, having a binding site to the hemoglobin, particularly a protease derived from Porphyromonas gingivalis, is made to act on the HbA1c.
