PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure gas safety even when an apparatus generating pressure pulsation is connected to the upstream side of a gas meter for safely using a gas apparatus. SOLUTION: The gas meter is provided with a flow rate measurement means measuring a flow rate of fluid flowing through a flow passage, an upstream apparatus discrimination means determining the gas apparatus connected to the upstream side of the flow rate measurement means, and an alarm means outputting an alarm according to the discrimination result by the apparatus discrimination means. In this way, it can be determined whether the gas apparatus connected to the upstream side of the gas meter causes pressure pulsation or not, and operation is stopped without letting gas flow through a gas apparatus connected to the downstream side of the gas meter, or an alarm is given for urging countermeasure processing, and consequently, the gas apparatus can be used safely.
