PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that an instrument gets complicated to bring high cost and size-up since a polarizer is required to be rotated mechanically or by a Faraday rotator as a method for rotating a plane of polarization. SOLUTION: This optical rotation measuring instrument comprises a light source, a rotary polarization element consisting of a liquid crystal element, which rotates a plane of polarization of a light flux from the light source, and a photoelectric conversion element which converts into electric signals a polarizer arranged after sample transmission and a light flux having transmitted through the polarizer.
