PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission capable of reducing the electric power consumption of a motor-driven actuator which operates a band brake mechanism and preventing the fastening force of a brake band from varying owing to dispersion when the motor is actuated. SOLUTION: The transmission is equipped with a the band brake mechanism to brake the rotation of a free rotating member of an epicyclic gearing mechanism and the motor-driven actuator, which is composed of the motor, a worm gear set, and an actuation part. The worm gear set is composed of a worm rotated by the motor and a worm wheel, and the actuation part is composed of an arm rotated by the worm wheel, a resilient member, and a piston, and by this piston, the brake band is fastened, and the arm rotation in the direction of going apart from the free end of the brake band is hindered by meshing of the worm gear set.
