PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound having inhibitory actions on the formation of IL-4 and IL-5 and useful for prophylaxis and treatment of allergic diseases such as atopic dermatitis, bronchial asthma or allergic rhinitis. SOLUTION: A new imidazole derivative and its pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof are provided. For example, 5-(4-methylphenyl)-2-(1-naphthyl)-N-(2-thiazolyl)imidazole-4-carboxamide is found to have excellent inhibitory actions on the formation of the IL-4 and IL-5 and be useful as a prophylaxis and therapeutic agent for the allergic diseases.
