PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a hydrogenated aromatic compound capable of inhibiting the reduction of activity of a catalyst even by using a hydrogen-containing gas containing catalyst poison components such as carbon monoxide, a sulfur compound, etc., such as a gas obtained by heating coal or its dry distilled products as a hydrogen source for the hydrogenated aromatic compound. SOLUTION: This method for producing the hydrogenated aromatic compound by performing the reaction of the aromatic compound with the hydrogen-containing gas by using the catalyst is provided by using as the hydrogen-containing gas, the gas obtained by heating the coal or its dry-distilled product and feeding the liquid state aromatic hydrocarbon so that the heated catalyst surface becomes wet and dry repeatedly by the aromatic compound.
