<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector for a flat conductor capable of reducing height while structural strength is held and releasing a lock of a pressing member, and to provide a connector mounting terminal. <P>SOLUTION: The connector for the flat conductor is equipped with a housing 1 for inserting a flexible substrate F; a plurality of contact terminals 2; an openable and closable pressing member 3; a pair of connector mounting terminals 4; and a locking mechanism 5. The locking mechanism 5 has structure locking a claw part 50 in a locking piece part 55 to lock the pressing member 3 in a closed state. The claw part 50 is installed in a portion corresponding to a contact projection part 22 with a contact terminal 2 and designed so as not to produce the unnecessary moment in the closed pressing member 3.
