PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized, inexpensive optical switch which is used for an optical multiplex communication system etc. SOLUTION: On a base 2, optical fibers 11 to 14, a cylindrical lens 4, and an MEMS substrate 5 are arranged. A tilt mirror of a mirror unit 21 is switched between the angle at which light from the optical fiber 11 is made incident on the optical fiber 13 and the angle at which the light from the optical fiber 11 is made incident on the optical fiber 14 and light from the optical fiber 12 is made incident on the optical fiber 13. Consequently, the cylindrical lens 4 and optical fibers 11 to 14 are only fixed at specified positions on the base 2 and the optical switch is realized which eliminates the need for accurate optical axis alignment.
