PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ballast controller integrated circuit for executing a unique pair of demands by an integrated status diagram architecture to control a fluorescent lamp and protect a ballast. SOLUTION: The architecture controls recovery based on the ordinal maintenance for the lamp from such failure conditions as power supplying and power breaking to an IC, a half-bridge circuit driven by the IC, pre-heating and strike of the fluorescent lamp, an operation of the fluorescent lamp and sensing of many possible failure conditions.
