PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide recombinant chaperonin 10 (cpn 10) useful for medical treatment. SOLUTION: An polypeptide having the recombinant cpn 10 having a sequence represented by the formula and a relevant amino acid sequence is provided. The method for detecting cpn 10 in a serum or other biological fluids comprises (i) forming an antibody against the cpn 10, (ii) reacting the antibody with a biological fluid sample having prospects of containing the cpn 10 and (iii) detecting presence of the cpn 10 in the sample by signal amplification due to formation of a cpn 10-antibody complex. And the method for promoting cell growth or immunosuppression comprises a step for administrating the cpn 10 to a mammal. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
