PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for conveying a building member capable of facilitating conveyance of the building member from a road to a building site in a flagstaff-shaped site, or the like. SOLUTION: A conveyance device 1 provided with a framework 7, a fixing rail 8, a traveling rail 9, and lifting equipment 10 is used, and the lifting equipment 10 is moved toward the above of the road 4 with one end part 9A of the traveling rail 9 hung over the above of the road 4 beyond one end part 8A of the fixing rail 8 to move the lifting equipment 10 to the above of the road 4, and to hang the building member 6 by the lifting equipment 10. The hung building member 6 is moved to the building site 3 side together with the lifting equipment 10 and the traveling rail 9, and the hung building member 6 is moved to the above of the building site 3 together with the lifting equipment 10 with the other end part 9B of the traveling rail 9 hung over the above of the building site 3 beyond the other end part 8B of the fixing rail 8, thus conveying the building member 6 from the road 4 into the building site 3.
