This invention provides a foundation structure (10); a method of manufacturing such foundation structure (10); and a building element for use in such method. The foundation structure (10) is particularly suitable for constructing houses on problem soils and is cast on building elements in the form of shuttering (12) manufactured from settable pulp sludge of the type discarded as waste material at paper or cardboard manufacturing facilities. The sludge is mixed; cast into forms; and allowed to set to form the shuttering (12). |
