PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device capable of preventing the resolution of a still picture from deteriorating while maintaining a dynamic range of exposure control. SOLUTION: This imaging device has a diaphragm mechanism for changing an aperture diameter to change the quantity of light inputted to an imaging element, a single or a plurality of density filter means which are inserted/retracted into/from the aperture diameter of the diaphragm mechanism to change the quantity of light inputted to the imaging element, and a means for independently driving the diaphragm mechanism and the filter means, and can switch a moving picture and a still picture to photograph them. The imaging device is provided with a control means for setting the filter means in two types of states for full covering or retracting from the aperture diameter of the diaphragm mechanism in photographing a still picture.
