PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a manufacture test of a chip possible even without catching an arrival timing of a device output signal sufficiently accurate for checking a response of a hit level as occasion demands. SOLUTION: The method for restoring a bit stream comprises the steps of: receiving a signal (12) as a received bit stream of known first bit rate, oversampling the received signal (12) with a second bit rate, detecting transition (T) of signals within the oversampled bit stream, individually selecting first bit segments out of bit segment frames (24, 26 and 28), extracting bit values from the selected first bit segments, and arranging the extracted bit values as a restored bit stream.
