PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear shift device of an automatic transmission that improves vehicle mountability by miniaturizing the automatic transmission, can secure degree of freedom of gear ratio selection, and does not decrease operability and fuel economy. SOLUTION: The gear shift device comprises an input shaft Input for receiving a rotation driving force, an output shaft Output for transmitting the rotation driving force to a driving wheel, a first planetary gear G1 arranged on the input shaft side for always reducing speed of input rotation, a second planetary gear G2 and a third planetary gear G3 arranged on the output shaft side, first to third clutches C1, C2 and C3, and first and second brakes B1 and B2. The first planetary gear is a single pinion type planetary gear. The second planetary gear is a single pinion type planetary gear. The third planetary gear is a double ring gear type planetary gear having a third carrier PC3 capable of inputting or outputting rotation from the gap between two gears: a third ring gear R3 and a fourth ring gear R4.
