The valve has a housing with a valve seat for a valve plate (6). The inner contour (13.1) of the housing (2) and the valve plate edge (6.2) are formed, so that the flow speed within the ring channel thus defined, remains almost constant across the complete stroke of the valve plate. The inner contour has a mainly constant ascent between 25degrees and 45degrees relative to the central axis (3) of the valve. The inclination of the valve plate edge relative to the central axis of the valve, is less by 1degrees to 6degrees than the inner contour. A spoiler (6.3) facing in direction of flow (5) is mounted on the valve plate.
