PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet motor of a small size in which prescribed performance is kept even if an inverter of PWM control system is used as a power supply source. SOLUTION: Permanent magnets 20a-20d are housed in magnet housing holes 21a-21d formed in each magnetic pole of a rotor core 11. Voids such as recesses 14a-14d, 16a-16d are formed between end walls 24a-24d, 25a-25d of the magnet housing holes 21a-21d and the outer peripheral part of the rotor core 11. A stator core 31 is provided with teeth tips 33a-33n with teeth 32a-32n provided thereon to form slots 34a-34n. [B≥A], [D≥C] are satisfied where B is a distance between voids of adjoining magnetic poles, A is a shortest distance between side surfaces of adjoining teeth, C is the width of the tooth, and D is a length in the circumferential direction of the void.
