PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use images inside and outside a closed area in accordance with a marking color by extracting the closed area marked with the particular color. SOLUTION: A scanner 1 stores image data read by performing raster scanning of an original image by a reading mechanism 11 in a memory 16. A closed area extracting part 12 acquires the image data from the memory 16 and extracts the closed area surrounded by the marking with a prescribed color in the original image. Marking colors are associated with processing to be applied to an image and stored in a processing definition table 17. A processing by colors part 14 applies the processing associated with the marking color of the closed area in the processing definition table 17 to the image in the extracted closed area.
