PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high frequency amplifier reduction in the saturation output power and efficiency of which is prevented by suppressing a voltage drop of a base voltage due to an increased base current even when the amplitude of a high frequency input signal is increased. SOLUTION: The high frequency amplifier is provided with: an amplifier means 3 for amplifying the received high frequency signal and outputting the amplified signal; a detection circuit 4 for detecting the amplitude of the high frequency signal received by the amplifier means 3; a compensation circuit 5 for generating a compensation current Ipc in response to the amplitude of the high frequency signal detected by the detection circuit 4; and a bias circuit 6 for supplying a bias current Ib proportional to the compensation current Ipc to the amplifier means 3, and the compensation circuit 5 sets a greater compensation current Ipc as the amplitude of the high frequency signal increases.
