PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium which is capable of recording and reproducing high-density information by improving recording and reproducing characteristics, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same and a magnetic recording and reproducing device. SOLUTION: The surface of a nonmagnetic substrate 1 is provided with a soft magnetic base film 2, an alignment control film 3 which controls the alignment characteristics of the film right thereabove, a perpendicular recording film 5 in which an axis of easy magnetization is aligned mainly vertically to the substrate 1 and a protective film 6. The alignment control film 3 is constituted of a Co alloy including one or two or more metals from among Ti, V, Sr, Y, Nb, Mo, Hf, Ta, Ni, and W. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
