摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for an optical fiber array with which a lightweight and compact optical device with high reliability can be realized without damaging an optical fiber mounted with high precision and a manufacturing method for the optical fiber array which has high production efficiency. SOLUTION: The substrate 10 for the optical fiber array is made of glass or crystallized glass made by depositing crystal in amorphous glass and has a plurality of V grooves 12 for optical fiber fixation formed on its top surface and also has a hole part 11 nearly parallel to the V groove 12 in the substrate 10 for the optical fiber array. In this manufacturing method, a base material which has a plurality of linear base material groove parts on one surface and also has a base material hole part, nearly parallel to the base material groove parts, inside is prepared, gripped at a grip part of a sending-in means, sent in a heating furnace to be heated at specified temperature, drawn by a drawing means and cut to a specified length to obtain a molding which is nearly similar to the base material and has a size within a desired range, and the molding is cut to a desired length.
