PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stream contents distribution system and a proxy server capable of realizing a streaming service by sharing cache data. SOLUTION: In the proxy server, when a contents packet is received from a stream server, contents data extracted from the received packet is stored in a file device as the cache data of stream contents, an address of the received packed is rewritten, and it is transferred to a contents requester. It is provided with a function of requesting stoppage of service to the stream server sending the contents packet, and requesting transfer of a remaining portion of the stream contents to other proxy servers.
