PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas compressor and a starting method of the gas compressor capable of obtaining a cooling effect quickly and reducing a sound produced by chattering. SOLUTION: A pressure control valve 190 is formed in such a place where a backpressure chamber 43 and a suction chamber 1b can be communicated. When the gas compressor 100 stops, a backpressure chamber regulator 70 and a suction chamber regulator 80 are in an open state, and the room pressures in the backpressure chamber 43 and the suction chamber 1b can be uniform. Immediately after starting, only the suction chamber regulator 80 is closed by regulating elastic forces of both adjusting springs 72 and 82, and refrigerating machine oil L can be positively fed into the backpressure chamber 43 by maintaining the open state of the backpressure regulator 70. On regular running, refrigerating machine oil L can be prevented from excessively fed into the backpressure chamber 43 by closing the backpressure chamber regulator 70. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
