PURPOSE: A drum washing machine is provided to reduce vibration transmitted to a fixing drum efficiently by adjusting damping force of a buffer apparatus with varying the contact area of a piston and a friction member according to strength of vibration. CONSTITUTION: A drum washing machine comprises a fixing drum suspended in a housing, and a buffer apparatus(40) combined with the outer periphery of the fixing drum and combined with the housing. The buffer apparatus is composed of a cylinder part(41) combined with the outer periphery of the fixing drum or the housing, and a piston part(42) installed in the housing or the fixing drum and mounted with the cylinder part to move back and forth for buffering by friction with the fixing drum. A friction member(43) is formed in the cylinder part, and deformed elastically by friction with the piston part to convert vibration from the fixing drum into thermal energy. The outer periphery of the piston part is tapered to vary the friction area with the friction member according to distance of the piston part. |
