<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device wherein chromaticity deviation due to a change in the ambient temperature is well controlled. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting device comprises light sources and a plurality of phosphors which absorb at least part of the light emitted from the light sources while emitting the light having a wavelength different from those of the lights emitted from the light sources. The phosphors include a first phosphor located on at least one of the light sources, and a second phosphor of at least one kind which has at least part of the light emitted therefrom being absorbed by the first phosphor. The first phosphor is located on the light sources side rather than on the second phosphor side.
