<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an index which can objectively evaluate quality of a printing process. <P>SOLUTION: A method for determining the index of the printing process quality evaluation includes at least a first step of disposing a microscopic patch group made of a predetermined number of the patches each having a predetermined size on platemaking data, forming a press plate based on the data, and printing, a second step of capturing an image of the group on a printed matter, and extracting the respective patches, a third step of obtaining an area or a volume of the extracted respective patches, and a fourth step of calculating a quality evaluating index SN by statistically processing as prescribed based on the area or the volume of the actually measured patches. As the patch groups, there are a uniform microscopic patch group of a scope in which the patches of the same size of a predetermined number are disposed, and a similar microscopic patch group of another scope in which the patches of different sizes of a predetermined number are disposed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
