<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly precisely detect the surface speed of an endless belt or a drum without depending on the working accuracy of the peripheral length of the endless belt or the drum. <P>SOLUTION: A linear scale 23 is partially formed in the peripheral direction of the endless belt 2, and at least two sensors out of sensors 241, 242 and 243 detect several timing marks printed on the linear scale 23 during one rotation of the endless belt 2, and a pulse signal S is outputted as a speed signal from a linear encoder 25 based on the output pulse of each sensor, and a control signal to set a difference between the pulse signal S and a command pulse signal zero is generated by a controller 26, and a driving motor 27 is driven in accordance with the control signal, so that the surface speed of the endless belt 2 is controlled to be constant. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
