<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminaire produced at a low cost, facilitating the installation of a fluorescent lamp, and substantially showing no difference in fluorescent lamp characteristics even if the fluorescent lamp is installed in the just opposite direction around its central axis. <P>SOLUTION: This down light type luminaire is used by installing the fluorescent lamp 3 having amalgam 1 therein and four connecting terminals 2 in one end, in a socket 4 in an approximately horizontal attitude. The socket 4 has such a form that the fluorescent lamp 3 can be installed in the just opposite direction around its central axis. The socket 4 is so installed that, whichever direction the fluorescent lamp 3 is installed in the socket 4, the position of the amalgam 1 is retained at an approximately same height with that of the central axis 5 of the fluorescent lamp 3. More practically, irrelevant to the installation direction of the fluorescent lamp 3 to the socket 4, the central angle of the amalgam 1 to the central axis 5 of the fluorescent lamp 3 is retained within an approximately 30°. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
