<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a displacement information generating device reducing influence due to a division error. <P>SOLUTION: A pseudo sine-wave signal accompanying the rotation of a motor M is detected with low resolution by means of a binarization circuit 15, while it is detected with high resolution by a fragmentation circuit 16 and a frequency synthesizer 17. Displacement information (a rotation angle) of the motor M is obtained through the low resolution detection value and the selected high resolution detection value. The fragmentation circuit 16 additionally generates the pseudo sine-wave signal having an intermediate phase difference of the pseudo sine-wave signals of two phases, and one cycle x of the pseudo sine-wave signal is interpolated and divided. The detection value by the fragmentation circuit 16 is selected when the following relationships are established: x > T (T represents a transmission cycle of the displacement information of the motor M to a controller 24) and t < T/2 (t represents a cycle of the division error possessed by the fragmentation circuit 16). The frequency synthesizer 17 carried out interpolation and division by dividing one cycle x of the pseudo sine-wave signal.
