PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of the abnormal sound caused by the vibration of a separation member holding body in a paper feeder wherein a paper sheet is fed by a paper feed roller rotating while abutting on the paper sheet, and the paper sheet is separated from the paper feed roller by passing through a pressing section between the separation member held by a separation member holding body, which is turnably supported, and the paper feed roller and the separated paper sheet is fed by being guided by a guide. SOLUTION: The generation of abnormal sound is prevented by restraining the vibration of the separation member holding body 21 by adhering an elastic film 31 to the guide 20 and inserting each end of the elastic film 31 into a hole 28, which is made in the guide 20, and pressing it against the leg section of the separation member holding body 21.
