PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device and a program for the same capable of operating in accordance with a plurality of optical disks of different standards. SOLUTION: The device has an optical pickup 12, a head amplifier 13, an ATIP demodulator circuit 14, an ATTP decoder circuit 15, a CRC error counter circuit 16, and a CPU 17 and performs spindle control for the optical disk 11. In this process, if ATIP information can be retrieved from a BIDATA signal or a LOCK signal becomes 'High', it is decided by the CPU 11 that the optical disk 11 is a conventional CD-R/RW disk the ATIP information is written in. Also, if address information can be retrieved, it is decided by the CPU 11 that the disk is a new standard optical disk.
