PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film for a magnetic recording medium, which can stabilize the supply of a digital magnetic recording tape having less drop outs when reading with an MR head. SOLUTION: This polyester film for a magnetic recording medium has a film containing fine particles and organic compounds on its one surface A. The fine projections on the surface of this film are 5-60 nm in diameter and their number is 3 million-100 million per/mm2.
