PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold a bottle container without injuring it during a capping process of the container. SOLUTION: A gripper 23 comprises a movable strips 30, 40, which have cutouts 32, 42, respectively, with which the neck of a PET bottle P is gripped. The gripper 23 is closed by an urging force of a spring 60 at a normal time, and is further constricted by the urging force of the spring 60 combined with an urging force of a cam plate 12 when the bottle P is capped. Constricting the gripper 23 results in a slight elastic deformation of the neck of the bottle P, preventing a rotation of the bottle P upon capping it. The bottle P restores its original shape after the elastic deformation, thus no impression is formed on the bottle P. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
