PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin treating apparatus and a method for caring for the skin, which enable the treatment of skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis under fixed treatment conditions without restriction of a time or a place, and which can constantly maintain a hygienic state. SOLUTION: After applying salt water to the skin outside a medical treatment room 2 in a state wherein the room temperature of the treatment room 2 is set at about 60°C by using a far-infrared heater 10, a user 5 enters the treatment room 2 and seats himself/herself on a seating member 9; minerals as components are absorbed into the skin of the user 5 by the perspiration of the salt water which is applied to the skin; the immune effects of the skin are enhanced by applying ultraviolet rays for the treatment from a first ultraviolet irradiation means 11; and after the user 5 leaves the treatment room 2, the inside of the treatment room 2 is sterilized by applying ultraviolet rays sterilization from a second ultraviolet irradiation means 12.
