The present invention relates to a group of non-peptidergic compounds which compounds are inverse agonists acting on the Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) encoded US28 receptor. In addition, the invention relates to the use of these compounds in the manufacture of a medicament having inverse agonist activity on HCMV encoded US28 receptor. Further, the invention relates to the use of these compounds in the manufacture of a medicament for inhibiting viral infections, and particularly in the treatment of HIV infections, such as in AIDS.
